I built the study app I wish my kids had.
I'm Elina. Mom of two, designer, and someone who went too deep into learning science and couldn't come back out. I spent years building edtech products for other companies before I built one for myself.
Lexie exists because the research on how memory works is clear, and almost nobody in edtech is following it.
Why Lexie exists
I wanted my kids to be independent learners with the right tools and techniques. The tools didn't exist in a form that actually worked. So I built one.
What I believe about learning
Retrieval practice, spaced repetition, desirable difficulty. The research is decades old and remarkably clear. Struggle is the mechanism, not a side effect. Most edtech skips this because engagement is easier to measure than learning.
How I build
Solo founder. I design, I code, I ship. No handoffs, no meetings, no waiting. 16 years at the intersection of design and engineering, and I work faster alone than I ever did in a team.
Background
Principal designer at Otava Learning, one of Finland's largest edtech companies. Before that, City of Helsinki's digital services, agency work, clients ranging from Nokia to the city itself.
Previously
I've spoken at Yle's AI demo on design and the future of learning, and written about AI and education for Helsingin Sanomat.
