How to study effectively with Lexie
At LexieLearn, we believe kids can learn anything with the right practice and support. That's why we built Lexie - to help you actually understand your material, not just memorize it. These guidelines help you get the most out of your study time.
Test your understanding, don't just get answers
What this means: Use Lexie's quizzes and flashcards to see what you actually know, not to avoid thinking about the material.
Why it matters: When you test yourself honestly, you discover what you've really learned and what still needs work. This is how you build real confidence for exams.
In practice: If you get a quiz question wrong, don't just move on. Think about why you missed it and try to understand the concept better before continuing.
Focus on what's challenging
What this means: Spend extra time with Lexie on the topics that are hardest for you, not just the easy stuff.
Why it matters: The material you struggle with is where you have the most to gain. Working through difficult concepts is how real learning happens.
In practice: If photosynthesis is confusing but food chains make sense, create extra flashcards for photosynthesis. Don't avoid the hard parts.
Build understanding, not just memory
What this means: Use Lexie to help you grasp why things work, not just to memorize facts for a test.
Why it matters: Understanding lasts longer than memorization. When you really get a concept, you can apply it to new situations.
In practice: Don't just memorize that "mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell." Use Lexie's explanations to understand what that actually means and why it matters.
Study when you can focus
What this means: Use Lexie when you can actually think about the material, not when you're distracted or rushed.
Why it matters: Effective practice requires attention. Half-focused study time doesn't build real understanding.
In practice: Better to spend 15 focused minutes with Lexie than 45 distracted minutes scrolling through flashcards.
Be honest about what you know
What this means: Don't mark flashcards as "known" if you're still unsure, and don't skip quiz questions you find difficult.
Why it matters: Self-assessment is a skill. Learning to accurately judge your own understanding helps you study more effectively.
In practice: If you sort of remember something but aren't confident, that counts as "still learning," not "mastered."
Remember the goal
The point isn't to finish all the flashcards or get every quiz question right on the first try. The point is to understand your material well enough that you feel confident and prepared. Use Lexie as your practice partner, not your shortcut.
When you use Lexie this way, you're not just preparing for the next test - you're building the kind of understanding that actually sticks.
